On Ebay I'm selling an item, so when the auction ends do I have to confirm the highest bid?

This drives me crazy,I don't know why more people don't research ebay,before they sell.The highest bidder will be automatic,and you will send a invoice to them and when they pay you will get a email telling you so.Then you mail the item to them and mark it as shipped and if you are smart you will add a tracking number it you don't get the labels through ebay.
